JOB POSITION: Patient Care Assistant

JOB STATUS: Full Time positions working approximately 80 hours per two-week pay period.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate. Hospital background and departmental experience preferred. Must exemplify a strong initiative and enthusiasm for the position including a professional demeanor in appearance and the ability to communicate, be an independent thinker and be a customer service leader.

JOB DUTIES: In collaboration with the Perioperative Nurse provides direct care to Surgical/Endoscopy Patients including vital signs, collecting specimens, and other duties as delegated by the Perioperative Nurse. Responds to communication system/patient alarms and executes with a sense of urgency. Answer the telephone in accordance with WMH telephone etiquette. Assemble charts, order patient supplies and stock clerical supplies. Assist with transportation of patients as needed. Assist with the preparation of the operating room including retrieval of necessary equipment for surgeries. Ensure the availability of instruments and supplies needed for the case. Assist with the opening of supplies and instruments.
